I went to Bandung to do a little exploration, and at the same time to get some business contacts.

From Singapore, there are a number of airlines that fly to Bandung, Indonesia.
Tiger Air, Air Asia, Jetstar

There are different parts of Bandung that you can choose to stay - Setiabudhi, Dago, Lembang.
 

Setiabudhi

I stayed here on this trip, as I find it convenient to move around. In fact, you could walk to the Rumah Mode from Grand Serela Setiabudhi Hotel. Asmila Boutique Hotel is directly opposite to the Rumah Mode outlet.

1. Grand Serela Setiabudhi (4 *)

This 4 star hotel is located in Setiabudhi, and it is wonderful location, as you could just walk 5-10 minutes to the famous Rumah Mode Shopping Outlet. And I could find food just a short walk from the hotel. I paid 15,000 Rp for my dinner which consists of 10 sticks of chicken satay, and rice.

There is a fitness centre, and rooms are available for meetings. Swimming pool is outside, and a spa is available. This is a good hotel , which is clean, and quiet. Thus, this is very ideal for a short stay, as well as for families and meetings.

 

2. Banana Inn Hotel & Spa (4 *)

This hotel is located in Setiabudhi, and again is close by to the outlet shopping mall of Rumah Mode. There are rooms for convention, and a lovely outdoor pool. I ate my dinner for the first night at the Banana Inn, and the food was fantastic. The famous Bandung Grilled Oxtail (Bakar), served with soup, and steam rice. Do go for their spa here. Javanese/Balinese massage, and facial treatments are available.

 

Anyway, this hotel has good rating from Tripadvisor.com.

 

3. Villa Damar (3 *)

This hotel is located close by the Rumah Mode Shopping Outlet.

I love the location of this Hotel. It offers stunning views of the mountains, and is surrounded by lush greenery. You could see such serene environment from the lobby, the restaurants, the pool and the rooms. The rooms come with balcony which affords views of the mountains.

Spa, Fitness, and Yoga lessons could be arranged.

Team building activities can also be conducted with the hotel's own instructors.

You must go to Kampung Daun for a meal. I missed enjoying a meal at The Valley, where you could see the sunset , as it was closed when I was in Bandung.
Grilled Oxtail , served with soup and steamed rice.


Nasi Timbel Bakar - Grilled Rice wrapped in banana leaf, and served with fried chicken, tofu & sautéed vegetables.

Sledging Fun at Kleine Schedegg

Exotic Trip Departures 2014

Winter is a lovely time to go to the Alps if you love skiing, snowboarding or even sledging.

Some of these activities can be done at a few places in Switzerland.

Mt Titlis (Engelberg)
You can travel to Engelberg from Lucern by train, from the Central Train Station. No advance booking is required. All you need to do is just show up, and buy tickets from the Tourist Office, located inside the Train Station. It will only take you about 45 minutes by train. There are a number of services throughout the day, and thus, it is very convenient.
You could easily walk to the Mt Titlis station from Engelberg, and buy the tickets for the cable car ride up. There are three cable cars that you have to take to arrive at the highest point.
Note - there is a Ski Rental shop right at the base of Mt Titlis, so it is very convenient, even if you do not have any equipment on your own.
Accommodation at Engelberg is available, and it is lovely to stay here.
NOTE : Mt Titlis is open the whole year round, except it will be closed for maintenance in Oct/Nov for a period of 7 days. So, do refer to the Mt Titlis website before you make your trip there.

Kleine Schedegg
Kleine Schedegg is located in the Jungfrau region, and it is only accessible by train. There are a number of train stations in the whole Jungfrau region.
The most convenient place to stay is at Interlaken (Latin name which means 'in between two lakes').
From Interlaken, you can take a train ride up to Kleine Schedegg. However, most of the locals do not like to stay at Interlaken as it is very touristy, with many tour groups staying here, for their early morning ascent up to Jungfraujoch. It is actually more scenic if you were to stay at Grindelwald, or even Lauterbrunnen, or maybe even Wengen, which hosts the annual World Ski Cup in the month of January every year.
So, it will only be a 45-minute train ride up to Kleine Schedegg , and up there, again, you could rent your ski equipment or even a sledge to have some fun here. There is a restaurant, and even a hotel located at Kleine Schedegg.
NOTE; If the weather conditions are bad, especially when the wind is too strong, the trains will not operate for the trip up to Kleine Schedegg.

Wonderful Excursions in Switzerland

Take the train ride up to Jungfraujoch - the highest railway station in the world.
3,454m high. At Kleine Schedegg, take another train that will bring you to the Top of Europe, the highest railway station in the world.

Other places that you could do a more challenging sledge run, will be at Mt Bussalp or even the nearby mountains. Do make enquiries at Grindelwald, as there is a snow-bus that will bring the tourists and locals up the mountains.

This is the largest spring gardens in the world, and it is open only for 6 weeks from the last week of March till the first week of May of every year.
There are more than 7 million tulips and bulb flowers blooming in the gardens, and many tourists travel to Netherlands during this period just to see the beautiful blooms. Over 32 hectares of land filled with different tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and etc.
