DAY 4 NGORONGORO | TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

(Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner)

After breakfast, journey to Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive in Tarangire. The park derives its name from the Tarangire River which rises in Tanzania's central highland and snakes its way through the length of this sanctuary. The river lures thousands of plains game to banks of its brackish waters especially during the dry season. At this time the concentration of animals in the park rivals that of the Serengeti. These animals share the Tarangire's permanent pools with a diverse birds population that ranges from Fischer's love-birds to purple gallinule.

With the onset of short rains in October, there occurs a great migratory dispersal of animals. Herds of wildebeest and zebra flood to the north, followed by the bulk of remaining animals to the east and south. Soon all that's left are the resident species of waterbuck, impala, warthog, dik-dik, giraffe, rhino and lesser kudu. This transition of season is a magical time and is perhaps the best to experience the amazing animal exodus- rivaled only by the annual Mara migration. The second and even longer rains are at their heaviest early April but end abruptly in June. The plain grasses dry up and the animals flock once again toward the river. [Tarangire Sopa Lodge «««]

DAY 5 TARANGIRE | AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

(Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner)

This morning, drive back to Arusha after breakfast, arriving in Arusha in time for lunch, thereafter transfer you to Namanga, where you will be met and driven to Amboseli National Park for a late afternoon Game drive. Set in rolling savannah scenery, it is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing volcanic mountain in the world and topped by one fifth of all the ice in Africa. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of 'giant' elephant accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous beasts - lion, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboon, gazelle hippo and wildebeest. Amboseli National Park is also an ornithological paradise with over 400 species of birds, all manner of reptilian, flora and fauna and some of the most soul-searing views in Africa. Enjoy an afternoon game viewing drive in search of the 'big five' among other animals. Her breath-taking scenery - one of the best places for a photogenic view of Mount Kilimanjaro, weather permitting, is next to none. [Amboseli Sopa Lodge  «««]

(Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner)

After breakfast, we will drive to the Great Rift Valley en-route to Nairobi in time for lunch, before driving to Lake Nakuru National Park. In the afternoon explore Lake Nakuru National Park on your game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park, coloured by a shimmering flamingo pink from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores, is a popular place with visitors as well as locals. Waterbuck are usually sighted along the lake shore, and this is the home of the Rothschild’s giraffe. Baboon, impala, buffalo, monkeys, warthog, impala, reedbuck and eland are also residents here. However, the main attractions are the rhinos. The park is a designated rhino sanctuary and it is one of the best places in Kenya to observe them. Both black and white Rhinos thrive here.Besides the greater and lesser flamingoes, the park is home to many other species including, the Great crested Grebe, the black necked Grebe, little Grebe, Pelicans, Cormorant, African Darter, Egyptian Geese, night Heron, Fish Eagle, grey Heron, Marabou stork, Sacred and Hadada Ibis. (Breakfast | Lunch | Dinner)

Enjoy a full buffet breakfast in the lodge. We will take a scenic drive to Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Spend the evening at the lodge, with fun filled activities such as Bush Baby feeding, or watch as the hyenas come out for their food at the viewing gallery.

The Masai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests. Certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya,  this 650 sq kilometer reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere. During the seasonal migrations, Masai Mara is home to up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebras that move into the area from neighboring Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania. The reserve is home to all the “big five” and it is also possible to observe; baboon, eland, ostrich, bat-eared fox, jackal and cheetah. The rivers abound with hippos and crocodiles.
